(ICAS III)
2-4 November 2004, Cancun, Mexico

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

Together with other Institutions involved in the field of agricultural statistics, FAO is sponsoring the Third International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS III).

The two previous international conferences covered many important issues pertaining to the continuing evolution of agricultural statistics systems. The third conference will cover economic sustainability indicators such as profits from agricultural products and environmental sustainability indicators such as use and protection of forests, water, and other natural resources.

Conference topics will address the development of social sustainability indicators such as the impacts of education, health, and cultural activities on rural households and their social welfare.
