Land tenure, rural development and natural resource management in Europe and Central Asia

Sustainable development of rural areas calls for a holistic approach, addressing many interlinked issues, such as land tenure, rural development and natural resource management. The Regional Office’s group for land tenure and rural development is active in addressing these issues.

Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests

Land tenure e-consultationFAO and partners are preparing Voluntary Guidelines to improve the governance of tenure of land and other natural resources. The first draft of the Voluntary Guidelines is now available and has been submitted to the open-ended working group of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) for review.  This first draft of the Voluntary Guidelines incorporates proposals received through an electronic consultation on the zero draft. Proposals to improve the zero draft were received from the public and private sectors, civil society and academia, and from around the world. The interest in the process and the efforts taken to prepare thoughtful and helpful proposals are highly appreciated.
