A new deal to rid Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia of obsolete pesticides
The EU and FAO invest in model for hazardous waste management and sustainable crop protection

Photo: ©FAO/Alessandra BenedettiThe programme on obsolete pesticides in the Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia region will grow through linkages to other partners such as GEF, UNDP, UNEP Chemicals, World Bank and national government ministries which are working to minimize risks to public health and the environment from these highly toxic materials. The programme is seen as an entry point to facilitate dialogue and capacity development in countries in other areas where FAO has a comparative advantage as a Technical Agency of the United Nations.
