Strengthening Brucellosis Control in Eastern Europe and Central Asia

FAO Regional Meeting
9 - 11 April, 2013, Izmir, Turkey

To assist Member Countries in launching, correcting and pursuing brucellosis control programmes aimed at controlling and eradicating brucellosis in animals and humans, FAO has designed a strategic framework for progressive control of brucellosis using a stepwise approach with a roadmap of activities that when followed lead to reduction of brucellosis in livestock and humans, eventually leading to the self-declaration of brucellosis-free status as defined by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
In support of these efforts, FAO is planning to organize through the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the Subregional Office for Central Asia, a regional coordination meeting to present and discuss the strategic framework for progressive control of brucellosis as guide for developing national  and regional strategies for  effective and sustainable control of brucellosis in the region.
