Watershed management – Linking forestry with other land use systems in the age of climate change

ERC Side event
18 and 19 April 2012, Baku, Azerbaijan

In the age of climate change “holisitic approaches” and “working together on cross-cutting issues” should no longer only be lip service paid in speeches and policy papers because today climate change affects all forms of land use. The key question is: how to bring the forestry and agricultural sectors closer together in terms of field projects, policy making, capacity development, and in the development of institutional mechanisms, as well as in terms of economic development.
The main objective of the Watershed Management Conference is to illustrate how forestry and watershed management contribute towards agriculture and food security.
