A greenhouse opening ceremony was hold as an official opening of a greenhouse at the Central Research Institute for Field Crops, under the DG of the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies of MFAL, Turkey. The ceremony brought together the international organizations, FAO, IFAD, CIMMYT, ICARDA, BGRI and the MFAL which contributed to establishment of the facility.
The construction of the greenhouse was initiated in the context of the IFAD funded project GCP/INT/193/IFA - Reducing risks of wheat rusts threatening livelihood of resource poor farmers through monitoring and early warning. The initial plan was rehabilitation of the old greenhouse, but according to the recommendations of the consultant, for more feasible and sustainability, it was decided to contribute to construction of this greenhouse for which FAO provided 45.000 USD and technical assistance.
