Rome-based Permanent Representatives visited Ankara, Turkey between 22 to 24 September 2013 with the objective of familiarizing with FAO’s activities in the field and to assess the decentralization process. In this regard, Permanent Representatives have visited FAOSEC office, have met with respective authorities of the Turkish Representatives of development and NGOs partners.
At FAO SEC office the Presentations on FAO Sub-Regional Office for Central Asia and FAO Turkey Office, FAO Turkey Partnership Programme (FTPP) and Forestry were delivered in a very interactive manner, where each Technical Officer presented the part dedicated to the activities of their Technical Department. The both Presentations were followed by Questions-and-Answers sessions. The main areas of interest of the Permanent Representatives was related to:
• Decentralization processes
• Cooperation between SRO and RO, HQs and Field
• Cooperation with Civil Societies and Private Sector
• Collaboration with Rome-based agencies, etc.
The Delegation has also attended the meeting with NGOs such as Chamber of Food Engineers (GMO), Chamber of Agricultural Engineers (ZMO), Chamber of Forestry Engineers, Sub-Union of Seed Industrialists and Producers (TSUAB) and Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats (TEMA).
