The partnership between the EU and FAO is sound and growing fast. In 2009, FAO received over US$ 360 million in contributions from the EU.

During the period 2000-2009, EU contributions to FAO projects amounted to some US$ 930 million, making the EU the biggest extra-budgetary donor of FAO.

Beneficiaries of grants

In order to facilitate the accountability of the EU towards its own constituencies, UN agencies are required to publicize information on "beneficiaries of grants", i.e. non-profit vendors of services and vendors of goods financed from EU contributions.

This requirement applies to items with a value of more than US$ 100 000 and only for projects for which Contribution Agreements have been concluded after 1 May 2007.
