European Union funding

The European Union (EU) is the world's largest donor of development funding, giving over half the world total. Around one sixth of this is administered directly by the European Commission.

Nearly € 1 billion (or 10%) of the aid budget managed by the European Commission is channelled through the UN.

Within the UN, FAO is among the principal recipients of EU-funded grants:

• Report on financial contributions from EuropeAid (2007-9)
• Report on financial contributions from DG ECHO (2007)
