Evaluations in FAO assess activities, projects, programmes, strategies and policies and provide evidence-based information that is credible, reliable and useful for timely incorporation into decision-making processes. Evaluation of FAO’s Technical Cooperation Assistance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

This was the first comprehensive independent evaluation of FAO’s technical cooperation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It examined themes, projects and priority areas in the cooperation, including results achieved, partnerships forged and capacity development efforts. It found that the programme continues to respond to priorities identified by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. Evaluation of FAO’s contribution in the Kyrgyz Republic

This evaluation assessed FAO’s contribution in the Kyrgyz Republic through each of the priority areas of work under the Country Programming Framework 2015–2017: food security and nutrition, sustainable management of natural resources, climate change and rural poverty reduction. Evaluation of FAO Strategic Objective 5: Increase the Resilience of Livelihoods to Threats and Crises

In the FAO’s Reviewed Strategic Framework 2010-19, Strategic Objective 5 (SO5) was dedicated to “increase the resilience of livelihoods to threats and crises”. This evaluation reviewed the conceptual and planning framework for SO5, FAO’s capacity to translate the framework into action, preliminary results achieved, and FAO’s global positioning in resilience. Mid-term evaluation of the Conservation Agriculture Scaling-up project in Zambia

This evaluation reviewed the Theory of Change, logframe, progress of the project and identified design and implementation issues to be addressed to strengthen implementation. It found that the project is making good progress towards its objectives. Nutrition and food security are improving for participating farmers as their production and income increase. Evaluation of projects on Community Empowerment and Institutional Strengthening for Improved Food and Nutrition Security in Afghanistan

This cluster evaluation assessed the overall contribution of three interlinked projects related to food security and nutrition in Afghanistan. It found that the food security cluster has contributed to women’s empowerment through the formation of common interest groups for women, increased knowledge and skills in mushroom farming, and improved technology transfer of mushroom cultivation. Evaluation of FAO’s Contribution in South Sudan

This evaluation assessed the overall FAO country programme in South Sudan, including the response to the 2013 Level 3 emergency and the development, institutional and coordination activities up to December 2015. It found that FAO played an exceptional leadership role in the humanitarian response to the South Sudan crisis and provided livelihood kits to nearly 750,000 households over the two-year period. This evaluation assessed the European Union funded Food Security Information System project in Kyrgyzstan. Using a variety of data collection and analysis methods, it puts forward recommendations to improve sustainability of the existing system and inform the development of future projects. Mid-term evaluation of the Forest and Farm Facility programme

This evaluation examined activities of the Forest and Farm Facility programme in the 10 focus countries: Bolivia, Gambia, Guatemala, Kenya, Liberia, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Vietnam and Zambia. It assessed the effectiveness and strategic relevance of FAO’s contribution to social protection and the inclusion of marginalised groups in decision-making processes through the programme.
