Évaluation du Programme de la FAO en Côte d’Ivoire 2012-2016

Côte d’Ivoire has experienced a decade of political and military crisis that has strongly affected its development. Despite the high growth rates since the end of the crisis, the country is facing several challenges. Poverty and malnutrition remain high. Conservation of forests in a growing economy, where commercial agriculture is expanding, is also a major challenge. In addition, addressing land tenure issues is a priority to ensure agriculture development and social cohesion in the aftermath of the crisis. In Côte d’Ivoire , FAO benefited from large visibility thanks to its strong commitment at institutional level in crucial areas: on the promotion of dialogue among partners, FAO was leading the sectoral working group on agriculture; on land tenure, FAO was at the centre of the government’s actions at policy and institutional level; on protection of natural resources and sustainable development, FAO supported several initiatives that contributed to increase political engagement and to promote inclusive processes by involving all key players (CSO, timber industries and research) in the discussions; and on nutrition, FAO was a key actor in the Scaling Up Nutrition initiative promoting a multi-sectoral approach to fight malnutrition.
