对《粮农组织营养工作战略及愿景》的评价

13 March 2019
This evaluation appraises progress achieved on the implementation of the Strategy and Vision for FAO’s Work on Nutrition since it was adopted in 2012. FAO’s nutrition-sensitive work has grown significantly since the Strategy was promulgated, and has evolved towards more deliberate efforts to address all forms of malnutrition. There also has been a surge in the development of knowledge products. However, the Strategy lacked an accountability framework and paid insufficient attention to operational issues, and therefore the extent to which [...]

Evaluation of FAO’s work on gender

07 March 2019
The evaluation examined the implementation of FAO Policy on Gender Equality from 2012 - 2017. It concluded that the policy remains relevant to FAO’s overall mandate and strategic goals. FAO has invested in mechanisms to institutionalize gender mainstreaming, produced a number of technical guidelines and awareness-raising material, forged partnerships to bring in gender dimension in project implementation, and made significant strides towards achieving gender-equality results. The policy needs to be updated however, to reflect external developments and be accompanied by [...]

Synthesis of findings and lessons learnt from the Strategic Objective Evaluations

07 March 2019
Building on the thematic evaluations undertaken by OED in the period 2014-17, this synthesis draws findings and lessons regarding the conceptualization, operationalization and results of the reviewed Strategic Framework. It concluded that the reviewed Strategic Framework is a significant and transformative step towards reorienting and repositioning a 70-year-old organization in a fast-evolving development landscape, to better address the emerging challenges to achieving FAO Members’ global goals and FAO’s vision.  The reviewed Strategic Framework has fostered a new, inter-disciplinary way of working [...]

Final Evaluation of the Project: "Management of Chimborazo’s Natural Resources"

22 February 2019
The ecosystem aimed to conserve and sustainably manage by the GEF-funded project “Management of Chimborazo’s Natural Resources" is the “páramo” which offers important environmental services such as the production of water, the capture of CO2 and great variety of native crops preserved thanks to the traditional knowledge of indigenous communities. The project's achievements were significant in the Chimborazo province: raising environmental awareness on the conservation of water resources, creation of regulations to implement compensation mechanisms for environmental services in order [...]

Final Evaluation of Development of the Trans-frontier Conservation Area Linking Forest Reserves and Protected Areas in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire

20 February 2019
In West Africa, wildlife species including elephants are found in small, isolated forest fragments. As human and economic activities expand, habitat fragmentation accelerates and animals face a growing threat of extinction. In many forest reserves, communities engage in subsistence agriculture and rely on wild animals for meat. Human-wildlife conflict has also been on the rise, with few efforts so far to solve this problem. In this context, the project GCP/RAF/447/GFF sought to construct a conservation corridor between Cote d'Ivoire and [...]

07 February 2019
The “Decentralised Supply and Water Use Management in the Sana’a Basin” project was designed to promote sustainable water resources management. The evaluation found the project to be highly relevant to the country’s needs and effective in contributing towards improved livelihoods resilience. The evaluation highlighted project’s contributions towards enabling environment for the provision of public services to farmers, and establishment of water user associations that were integral to the decentralisation of groundwater usage regulation. The project helped farmers to identify more [...]

Final Evaluation of the Project “Building a Global Agenda of Action in Support of Sustainable Livestock Sector Development”

01 February 2019
Is sustainable livestock production possible, and if so, what does it look like? Livestock sector is at the center of climate and environmental issues, and plays a major role in poverty reduction and food security and nutrition. The Global Agenda for Sustainable [...]

Evaluation of FAO’s Contribution to Guinea

30 November 2018
In 2012 about 55 percent of Guinea’s population was living below the national poverty line. The 2014/15 Ebola crisis heavily hit the country disrupting the actions undertaken by FAO to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable populations to food security. Several unplanned projects have been implemented to respond to the country’s emergency. Achievements included: Ebola risk management capacity building at community level as well as livelihoods and livelihoods strengthening of vulnerable households in agriculture and livestock; setting up a wildlife monitoring [...]

Final Evaluation of the Project “Increased Household Food, Income and Nutrition Security through Commercialization of an Integrated and Sustainable Smallholder Livestock Sector in Zimbabwe”

26 November 2018
The Final Evaluation of the Project “Increased Household Food, Income and Nutrition Security through Commercialization of an Integrated and Sustainable Smallholder Livestock Sector in Zimbabwe” concluded that the Project’s objective of changing mindsets of smallholder livestock farmers to view livestock as important economic assets more than a social asset was very relevant and timely. The Projects’ implementation modality of having two co-applicants was strategic: it was able capitalize on the local knowledge and expertise of the co-applicants. However, this implementation [...]
