Guidelines for the Assessment of Gender Mainstreaming

The Office of Evaluation is happy to announce the publication of the new Guidelines for the Assessment of Gender Mainstreaming. Over the years, member states have increasingly been calling for FAO to mainstream gender dimension in all areas of its work and to enhance its contribution to gender equality. For this purpose, FAO has adopted a Corporate Policy on Gender Equality in 2012 to be implemented over five years. The Office of Evaluation has been developing and testing methodologies to assess the policy implementation and the programme contribution to the policy objectives. The new Guidelines provide a step-by-step guidance on how to conduct this assessment within each evaluation, as well as the methodological framework composed of sets of evaluation questions related to each policy objective along with the indication of data sources.
