International technical seminar on the evaluability of Sustainable Development Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture

On 17 and 18 November 2015, the evaluation offices of the four Rome-based agencies (FAO, WFP, IFAD and CGIAR) hosted a technical seminar to consider the evaluability of Sustainable Development Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. Essentially, the seminar explored how evaluation could become an agent of change to achieve the sustainable development goals. Some 160 participants attended the seminar, representing 38 countries with a diverse mix of evaluators, academics and representatives of national governments, United Nations agencies, multilateral development organizations, research organizations and donor agencies. The seminar was also attended virtually by more than 1 000 people and generated substantial social media interest on Twitter and Facebook.
