The purpose of this publication is to illustrate how the consistent and sustained work of the Organization on gender equality contributes to addressing the challenges facing food security, agriculture and rural development. Each chapter highlights the relevance of gender equality and women’s empowerment to achieving FAO’s strategic Programme, and describes key genderrelated work and results achieved, showcasing significant interventions implemented at country and international levels. Each chapter is also accompanied by “stories from the field” that help to illustrate the impact of FAO’s work for beneficiaries in more concrete and detailed terms, highlighting successes and insights gained.
