Taming the waters of Afghanistan
Irrigation is vital for Afghanistan, for food security and livelihoods, and for economic growth. Since 2002, FAO has worked with the government and communities to rehabilitate irrigation canals and improve their management. Funded by Japan and the World Bank, 400,000 farm households have been assisted, directly reaching over 2 million people.
