“Akleh” – Community Kitchen

Over a period of 5 months, the Food Heritage Foundation (FHF) team worked on rehabilitating and equipping the foundation’s kitchen at Zico House – Spears, partnering with small producers in rural areas in order to secure a regular supply of high-quality raw ingredients to the kitchen and contacting women cooks to be involved in the kitchen. “Akleh” is an active working point towards the revival of the Lebanese traditional food heritage by preserving traditional recipes from all over the country, and customizing them according to healthy nutrition standards. Akleh proposes a selection of traditional food and special mouneh products to the urban population (individuals, companies, institutions, schools etc.) by creating livelihoods to women in rural and urban poor areas. Akleh seeks to revive culinary traditions in urban settings while encouraging local production and improving the livelihoods of women and small producers in rural areas across Lebanon.
