SCOPE Kenya and Member Organizations developed and uses a unique “whole schools development approach” method which brings together all school stakeholders(learners, teachers, parents and local leaders) and uses the entire schools ground to design and implement Permaculture/ sustainable ecological agricultural activities, to address social, economic and environmental community needs. This has proved to be a very powerful and effective development tool that enhances inclusiveness, participatory, ownership and sustainability of the initiated projects in schools and at community level. The organization is promoting agroecological practices in 133 schools. The main objective of establishing SCOPE Kenya as a network was to strengthen and take its work with schools forward in an organized and coordinated approach that will not only meet the current schools and community’s needs but also influence policy change to have agricultural activities and environmental activities included in the school programme. SCOPE Kenya’s main mandate is Building the capacity of member Organizations, enhancing an effective information sharing and advocacy among network members across the country as well as linking them to other regional network like Regional Schools and Colleges Permaculture Programme (ReSCOPE).
