Participatory Ecological Land Use Management Uganda PELUM Uganda

Type of Organization: Non-governmental organization
Areas of work: Agroecology
Region: Africa
Country: Uganda
Description:
Since 1995, PELUM Uganda has grown to a 57 member strong network of like-minded agricultural NGOs operating in over 98 districts of Uganda, and reaching approximately 3,000,000 smallholder farmers, 65% of whom are women. We promote agricultural systems that address food security, promote resilience to climate change, conserve agricultural biodiversity, enhance incomes of farmers, ensure environmental sustainability, and operate in an enabling policy environment. We do this through working with our membership to facilitate learning, knowledge and experience sharing, developing replicable agricultural models and approaches, as well as research and collective advocacy. We also uniquely reach the regional, national and local levels with our interventions.
