Founded in 1928, the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) is a nonprofit scientific society with more than 5,000 members in more than 90 countries working in academia, practice, government and industry. ASN is dedicated to bringing together the world’s top nutrition research scientists to advance our knowledge and application of nutrition.
CCEXEC Decision
The Directors-General of FAO and WHO grant observer status to ASN on the understanding that double representation at specifc meetings should be avoided. (i) ASN will only participate as an observer in codex meetings when the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) is not represented. (ii) at meetings where IUNS is represented, ASN can only participate as part of the IUNS delegation and not speak as ASN; and (iii) ASN can submit written comments only on those issues for which IUNS does not submit any comments.
