Comité Coordinador Regional del Codex para Asia (CCASIA) - Coordinador regional: China
El Comité Coordinador para Asia se creó en el 11.º período de sesiones de la Comisión del Codex Alimentarius celebrado en Roma (Italia), en julio de 1976. Su primera reunión se celebró en Nueva Delhi (India) en enero de 1977.
El coordinador regional opera desde el Centro Nacional de China para la Evaluación de Riesgos de Inocuidad de los Alimentos.
Las principales prioridades de China como coordinador son aumentar la participación en las reuniones del Codex, apoyar la priorización del trabajo del Codex en la región, mejorar la armonización de las normas de inocuidad de los alimentos y acelerar la revitalización del comité coordinador compartiendo información y comunicando periódicamente novedades sobre cuestiones relativas a la inocuidad alimentaria en la región.
China desea asimismo promover la colaboración con las organizaciones observadoras y favorecer una comunicación eficiente y eficaz entre los miembros regionales de la FAO, la OMS y la Secretaría del Codex.

Over 11 200 Codex standards to be harmonized into Bangladeshi food safety legislation
In a high-level event on Saturday 25 March 2023, the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) announced the successful drafting of 11 200 food standards harmonized with Codex. These are expected to be gazette-notified before the end of the year. Codex@60 / Tom Heilandt speaks to CCFA delegates at celebration in Hong Kong
At an event held in Hong Kong, SAR, China to mark the Codex 60th anniversary celebrations during the Codex Committee on Food Additives meeting, Tom Heilandt, Codex Secretary spoke of the achievements that have given the world “a comprehensive system to ensure the safety and quality of the food we eat”.

ACT project in Mongolia: Prudent use of antimicrobials discussed among herders
The “Action to support implementation of Codex AMR Texts (ACT)” project was presented at the Herders Forum in Mongolia on 2 March 2023, where more than 400 herders, livestock specialists, and local governors discussed the government's policies for the development of the agricultural sector, livestock production and responsible and prudent use of antimicrobial drugs and food safety.

Codex Observer sees yellow at CCFA
A group of food additives called beta-carotenes are used to add a yellow colour to foods like soft drinks, confectionary and cakes. Spectacular show in Hong Kong celebrates Codex 60th anniversary
In a burst of colour and sound, taste and vision, the Centre for Food Safety, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, Hong Kong SAR, China put on a show of local culture and entertainment on Monday 27 March, 2023 for delegates attending the Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA).
Local artisans, youth performers and lion dancers were all on show to mark the 60th anniversary of the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

FAO announces new brochure and strategic priorities on food safety at CCFA
FAO has now issued a brochure that describes its work on food safety. Safe food for everyone – FAO’s work on food safety: science, standards and good practices is available in two formats (pdf and digital) and six languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish).

Food additives Committee plays key role in enhancing trust in food safety work
