Codex Committee on Methods of Analysis and Sampling / meeting cancelled

Due to the exceptional circumstances related to the the COVID-19 outbreak, this meeting has been cancelled.

The workshop on “Food fraud prevention and risk based food allergen management” has also been cancelled.

Update 1 April 2020

All work on the review of CXS 234: dairy package and fats and oils package; and the guidelines on sampling (CXG50) will continue through EWGs within the mandate given by CCMAS40 in 2019.
EWGs will report on their progress to CCMAS41 in 2021.

Comments should continue to be submitted within the deadlines stipulated in the respective circular letters.

Additional information on the next steps for the remaining items of work in the provisional agenda and further updates will be published here as they become available.


The 41st Session of the Codex Committee on Methods of Analysis and Sampling will be held from 11 to 15 May 2020 at the Danubius Hotel Helia, Budapest, at the kind invitation of the Government of Hungary. The Session will begin at 10.00 on Monday 11 May 2020. Registration facilities will be open on the same day at 09:00 at the same venue.

The Physical Working Group on "endorsement of methods of analysis and sampling" will meet at the same venue on Saturday 9 May 2020 from 10:00 to 18:00.
The Session will be conducted in English, French and Spanish.

MoniQA Association and the Inter Agency Meeting (IAM) invite your participation at the high level workshop for Codex Alimentarius delegates of the upcoming CCMAS 41 meeting in Budapest, Hungary, on Sunday 10 May 2020. This is a unique opportunity to meet and discuss globally relevant and practical issues dealing with “Food Fraud Prevention and Risk Based Food Allergen Management”. Renown speakers have been invited to contribute to this exciting program (please see the program at  The workshop is scheduled on Sunday 10 May 2020, 13:00-17:00, which is right between the Methods Endorsement Working Group Meeting on Saturday 9 May 2020 (all day) and the CCMAS plenary sessions starting on Monday 11 May 2020.

The workshop venue is the same as for the other CCMAS meetings and will be at the Danubius Hotel Helia, Budapest. This workshop usually attracts some 120 participants.

Registration is complimentary for participants/delegates to the Codex Alimentarius 41th CCMAS Meeting 2020. The meeting space is limited to 120 participants. Early registration secures your place at the event.
