Surveillance of foodborne diseases and monitoring of food contamination

National surveillance systems – foodborne disease in humans
Institute of Public Health is responsible and has a monitoring system for data collection on foodborne disease in humans
National monitoring systems – foodborne hazards in the food chain
The monitoring system in the food chain of National Food Authority is based on the supervision of the results from the official control plan and the results of sample collection for its implementation. There are many elements not integrated in this plan due to lack of data that actually are going to be created (self-control system, historical data of the product). This shows that the actual plan is risk based only to the product and not annual risk based plan, which will create a complete monitoring of the risk in the food chain.
