ISDI event on food additives in infant formula - 19 April 2022

ISDI – the International Special Dietary Foods Industries, a Codex Observer, is holding an event on 19 April 2022 from 15.00 to 16.30 CEST, entitled ‘Food Additives in Infant Formula – A journey through the technological need and evaluation of safety’. The event will consider the Codex process for, and principles behind, authorizing the use of additives in infant formula. Uganda officially takes over from Kenya as the new coordinator for Codex in Africa

by CCAFRICA coordinator On 21 March 2022, during a hybrid meeting hosted in Entebbe, Uganda officially took over from Kenya as the new Regional Coordinator for the African region (CCAFRICA). This follows the appointment of Uganda for the period 2020 to 2022 by the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) during its 43rd meeting held virtually in November 2020. Codex Trust Fund / El Salvador and Guatemala web seminar for Codex Contact Points

The Codex Trust Fund supports more effective engagement of developing and transition economy countries in the Codex system. Participants including government officials, private sector, academia and consumer groups from El Salvador and Guatemala took part in a web training on 15 and 17 March 2022 to learn from neighbouring countries in the region, Chile and Costa Rica, good practices for efficient management of a Codex Contact Point. The value of Thai food exports increased by nearly 25 percent in the three years to 2018 and some Thai food companies are reporting recent sales increases of between 20 and 30 percent. Over 400 delegates joined online for the opening session of the Codex Committee on Food Hygiene (CCFH52) which runs from 28 February to 9 March 2022, hosted by the United States of America from Washington DC.
