Romania’s Politehnica University of Timișoara organizes “Polysafe” event for World Food Safety Day

07/06/2021

The Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Environmental Engineering within the Politehnica University of Timișoara is organizing three World Food Safety Day events over three days, from 7 to 9 June.

The first event will name the winners of their “Youth and Food Safety Competition,” which is aimed at school and university students. Posters and videos (maximum 5 minutes) on different food safety themes (see categories here) can still be submitted up until 31 May. The aim of this competition has been to foster responsible consumer behaviour, develop communication, collaboration and critical and creative thinking skills, and cultivate an interest in food science, with a focus on chemistry. Contributions will also be posted on the Polysafe Instagram @polysafefood

The second event, on 8 June, will be a webinar on the theme of food safety “from raw material to product” and discussion will revolve around the five World Food Safety Day calls to action. On 9 June, the concluding Polysafe event will look at the role of academia in training food safety specialists. The zoom workshop will have contributing guests from several top Romanian universities.

This is the second consecutive year that the faculty has runs its “Polysafe” events, which are widely promoted across Youtube and Facebook
