World Food Safety Day workshop to address food safety and health issues in the Kyrgyz Republic

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) office in the Kyrgyz Republic in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Development is organizing a World Food Safety Day workshop aimed at a range of stakeholders, including food producers and food businesses, trade networks, regional divisions of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary & Epidemiological Surveillance and medical practitioners.

The 30-person workshop will be a part of FAO’s project on “Assessment and improvement of institutional capacities on food control, food safety management systems and international standards” and participants will learn about FAO’s food safety work in the country, basic concepts of food safety and a healthy diet and the Eurasian Economic Union’s (EAEU) technical regulations on food safety. In relation to EAEU regulations, there will be particular emphasis on food poisoning and botulism and consumer rights to information on food products.

The workshop will open with a word from Mr. U Bekturganov, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development and Mr. Adnan Quereshi, the FAO representative in the Kyrgyz Republic.
