IDC The IDC is based on tutorial training activities
using existing data on food consumption collected in national household surveys. Food security and consumption
statistics are produced and used to assess and monitor national and sub-national food insecurity for monitoring
progress in hunger reduction such as indicator 5 of the MDG and the indicator of the WFS.

Statistics Derived from Household income and expenditure surveys
(HIES) NDCs
The NDC on Food Security and Consumption Statistics from Household
Income and expenditure Surveys (HIES) is a regional training
activity where two participants from countries, one from the
National Statistical Organization office and one from the
National Office in charge of Food Security are invited.
Capacity building through technical assistance
Technical assistance
The capacity building through technical assistance to countries
is an on-the-job training activity for improving the food
consumption statistics used for food security assessments
at the global, regional, national and sub-national levels,
and supports countries for enhancing the processing and analysis
of food consumption statistics derived from household surveys
collecting food consumption data. This activity is provided
with financial support from organizations like the European
Commission and the World Bank inter alia as part of technical
and financial cooperation projects.
