Join online by Zoom this #WorldFoodDay to watch the global ceremony that marks the 75th anniversary of FAO!

This event will look at how we can transform food systems while responding to the impacts of COVID-19 and celebrate the #FoodHeroes who have continued to produce, plant, harvest, fish or transport our food, despite these challenging times.

The digital ceremony will include live speeches and video messages from the heads of UN agencies, FAO Special Goodwill Ambassadors for Nutrition, including His Majesty King Letsie III of Le- sotho and Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain, the President of the Republic of Italy, the Pope and the UN Secretary-General. The programme will be published shortly at this link.

After the ceremony, a digital lecture will be held by Professor Joachim von Braun on the Role of policy, innovation, bio-economy and SDGs in agri-food system transformation followed by an interactive Q&A session. Read more about Professor von Braun here.

Virtual video mapping on FAO headquarters and the iconic Colosseum

Whether you’re in Rome or abroad, don’t miss the video mapping show! Watch as the show opens on the façade of the FAO building at 19.30 CET in celebration of the Organization’s 75th anniversary and then make your way to the world-renowned Colosseum for the second part of the World Food Day show! Food heroes will be the stars of the show and FAO will call on the public to show their gratitude and become food heroes themselves through simple actions that can contribute to the transformation of food systems.

Tune in here on 16 October to watch the live webcast of the video mapping show. If you miss the show on this date, you can catch it at FAO headquarters up to 18 October.
