The FAO Strengthening Agricultural Adaptation (SAGA) global project is inviting you to a parallel session at the Pre-COP Milan - UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) that will highlight the potential of Farmer Field schools (FFS) and Climate-Smart Villages (CSV) to implement and scale up climate change commitments in the agriculture sector from a bottom-up approach in Africa.

The session will be co-hosted by the SAGA global project, the FAO Global FFS Platform, CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and the African Group of Negotiators Expert Support (AGNES). Join farmers, government leaders, researchers, development practitioners and other agriculture sectors actors to:

–   Learn about the upcoming FFS global platform’s guidance document on “bringing climate change into FFS”;

–   Explore case studies that describe main achievements, challenges and enabling environment for implementating CSV and FFS approaches in Senegal, Niger, Burundi and Kenya;

–   Discuss how governments can capitalize on these experiences to enable transformative climate adaptation action in the agriculture sector;

–   Contribute to conversations on how to inform climate policymaking in Africa and programming on agriculture development.
