Putting into practice the ecosystem approach to fisheries

1 March 2006 -- The Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF) is not new, but there is still little practical experience on how to put policy into action. This new booklet provides a concise outline and guidance on how to implement the approach. It includes a brief overview of EAF, a description of its benefits, requirements for implementation, the range of management measures currently available as well as a look at the management process, some outstanding research needs, and a list of the main threats to the implementation of EAF.
