  Fish Products and Industry Division


Responsibilities
The Fish Products and Industry Division is responsible for all programmes and activities related to the development of fisheries technology, post-harvest practices and trade.

Functions
The Division provides advice and assistance to FAO Members on the technology aspects of fisheries management and operations and reducing the negative impacts of fishing operations on the environment, on transfer and adaptation of appropriate techniques and technologies in catching, handling, processing, distribution, marketing, safety and quality management and responsible trade of fish and fish products. It ensures cooperation and coordination with other international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations concerned with the technological aspects of fisheries and aquaculture and with post-catch practices and trade.
