Giant river prawn - Feeding methods

In India, freshwater prawn grow-out occurs in both freshwater and brackishwater. Modified extensive to semi-intensive culture systems are most commonly used. The feeding method depends on the size of the ponds. For small ponds pellets are fed by broadcasting them over the water surface by hand. In large ponds pellets are distributed by rope-boat (Figures 3 and 4).

Demand feeders, semi-automatic feeders, automatic feeders, computer controlled automatic feeders are generally not used in freshwater prawn farming.
