To provide a starting point for moving through the EAF Toolbox, the following ‘playlists’ of tools have been chosen as representing what would most likely be appropriate for the different fishery situations described assuming that there was no external assistance being provided to the groups (i.e. no direct involvement of FAO or other assistance body).  To best illustrate how the tools that should be used will vary among fisheries, we have chosen a spectrum of fishery situations from the lowest capacity and data availability up to the most complex and presumably data rich types of fisheries  as examples.

These playlists are only provided as indicative guides, they are not meant to be prescriptive. Furthermore, the specific types of fishery chosen (beach seine, shrimp trawl, tuna longline) aren’t  the important factors in affecting the types of tools chosen . It is the scale of the fishery, the technical and institutional capacity and data levels associated with these examples that are the key attributes affecting how the EAF planning process could best proceed.
