IFISH3 - The third international fishing industry safety & health conference (meeting convened by BOBO-IGO - FAO - NIOSH)

This event, to take place at Temple Bay Resort, Mahabalipuram, Chennai, India, on February 1-4, 2006, followed by a thematic workshop on Tsunami on February 6-7, 2006 will bring together individuals from around the world who share research and programme expertise on the problems facing small-scale and commercial fishing. Your attendance at IFISH 3 will allow you to share the latest information on fishing safety promotion, help build an international fishing safety coalition and promote action to reduce injury and death in the small-scale and commercial fishing sectors.

Besides IFISH 3, an equally important workshop will also be held on 6-7 February 2006 at the same venue to review the long-term rehabilitation efforts of various agencies and organisations towards the recovery and productivity of the communities affected by the 26 December 2004 tsunami. This workshop will also review th

e regional fishing and safety assessment/ assurance.

IFISH 3 is the conference for any one who has interests in small-scale and commercial fishing safety and injury prevention, including those working in safety promotion, occupational health, injury prevention, public safety, policy making and those serving as fishing industry, marine, or maritime workplace or safety officers. The conference promises a stimulating programme, which includes keynote speakers, presentation of scientific papers and posters, a workshop and a range of social events.

IFISH 3 is convened by the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO) in collaboration with the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Alaska Field Station of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), USA.
