Set longlines
A set longline consists of a main line and snoods with baited hooks (occasionally unbaited) at regular intervals and which is set, in general, on or near the bottom.
Vessel types: Bottom longliners
In general two types of jigger vessels are engaged in fisheries.

Characteristics
Species EnvironmentFound near the bottom. Feeds on fishes and squids. Young feed mainly on euphausiids, but the diet becomes polyphagous with growth. Cannibalism has been observed in larger individuals. It is a bathydemersal species living in deep waters (between 200-1 000 m).
