A midwater otter trawl is a cone-shaped net which is towed in mid-water and kept horizontally open by otter boards.

Characteristics
Species EnvironmentBenthopelagic group of species. This schooling species are usually territorial and burrowing. Feed on plankton. High activity is correlated to periods with strong tidal currents. Then leave their bottom hides and form large shoals. During low light intensity in the night and winter they bury into the bottom.
