New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and Egypt-based World Fish Centre (WFC) yesterday agreed to work together to boost small-scale fish production in Africa.
The announcement came yesterday at a press briefing during the NEPAD Fish for All Summit in Abuja, which entered its second day yesterday.
About 20 African countries are attending the summit in Abuja. About the same number of African leaders were being expected on Thursday on the invitation of President Obasanjo.
The scheme is estimated to cost $30m with part of which amounted to $5m, already committed. The balance of $25 would be sourced jointly by NEPAD, African governments and its international development partners.
