Culture of Black Soldier Flies, Hermetia illucens, is a sustainable option for waste management as the larvae consume organic wastes, transforming wastes into alternative protein source for animal feeds. Several companies have commercialized the production of BSF meal in recent years, and changing animal feed regulations in the US and European Union have paved the way for mainstreaming this alternative feed ingredient.
