Abstract: This Act concerns the safety and suitability of food in the territory of South Australia. The objects of the Act include ensuring food for sale is both safe and suitable for human consumption, preventing misleading conduct in connection with the sale of food and providing for the application in this jurisdiction of the Food Standards Code. The Act contains provisions on the handling and processing of food in a safe manner and defines the offences relating to food (Part 2), it regulates inspections and seizure powers (Part 4), the taking and analysis of samples (Part 6), auditing and reporting requirements (part 8) and provides for its administration (Part 9) and for legal and administrative procedures related to the enforcement of the Act.
Comment: This Act repeals the Food Act 1985.As in force at 6 July 2006.
