| Abstract:
| This Act provides for all matters related to livestock in South Australia. The Act consists of 88 sections and is divided into ten Parts. It contains provisions on the establishment of livestock advisory groups, and regulates their functions and powers (Part 2), it foresees the elaboration of a code of practice for the livestock industry, it defines requirements for the registration for keeping of animals (sect. 17) and for artificial breeding (Part 3, Div. 2) and veterinary diagnostic laboratories. For what concerns the health of livestock, the Act defines notifiable conditions, investigations and measures to control and eradicated diseases and contamination (Part 4). Under Part 5, the Exotic Diseases Eradication Fund is established and regulated. Part 6 is dedicated to apiculture, Part 7 covers the registration of brands and Part 8 contains provisions on the enforcement of the Act. |
