Coverage At present the database shows the apparent consumption of fish and fishery products since 1961, based on food balance sheets, organised by:

1. about 245 countries, territories or land areas;
2. 40 major food fish consuming countries and,
3. for these countries, broad groups of species

Data are given for total and per caput supply in the live weight on a yearly basis by world, continents, economical groups and countries. Indicative nutritional values in terms of animal and total proteins are also provided. Balances are also provided for supply in quantities and nutritional factors in terms of calories, proteins and fats of broad groups of species for the major food fish consuming countries.
The time reference period used is the calendar year (1 January - 31 December)
