Fishery standards references

Activities include the organization of biennial meetings of the Co-ordinating Working Party on Fishery Statistics which comprises intergovernmental organizations with a role in fishery statistics, organization of workshops at sub-regional level and national level, systematic participation to meetings of statistical groups of fishery agencies and regional or species commissions dealing with fishery statistics.

Maintenance of standards

Close links are also maintained with other Organisational Units dealing with agricultural statistics, such as the Statistics Division and its regional statutory bodies and with the United Nations Statistical Division. This co-operation is mainly in areas related to the development of statistical aspects of macroeconomic concepts such as the fisheries and aquaculture sectors in the national system of economic accounts for agriculture, the methodological frames of censuses and surveys, in order to ensure that new concepts and advancements in the field of government statistics are appropriately reflected in the data collections for which the unit is responsible.
