The main purpose of the software consists in providing the research tool to evaluate ecological consequences of the ctenophora Mnemiopsis leydei invasion into the Black and Azov Seas. The model simulates influence of natural environmental variability and fisheries impacts. A spatial-aggregated modification was initially used with the purpose of accounting for spatial heterogeneity in next versions. Due to the generalized framework of the model, program MTBASE 1.1 can be modified for use with other ecosystems. However, due to the complexity of this program package, it is advisable to consult the designers.
