RFLP addressed the loss of income from fish and fishery products due to poor handling, preservation and processing practices, and inequitable returns from because of the marketing systems. Activities included increased public awareness of food safety issues; the training of processors and traders in fish handling, processing and business management; improved management of landing centres; pilot operations for adding value to products and marketing; and improved market information. A highlight was a women’s group producing seaweed snacks in Indonesia seeing its products become available in supermarkets across the country when formerly they were only sold in local shops.
