Responsibility for the Global Record Project sits within the 'Fisheries Operation and Technology Service' of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department and the governance and operation of the project in its concept development phase has been kept deliberately simple. A small project team, supported by external experts is responsible for taking the project tyhrough to COFI 2011.

  • A project Sponsor;
  • A project Manager / Senior Advisor;
  • Expert Input through consultation and collaboration.

Nevertheless, a 2008 study recommended a broader governance structure and so consistent with the best practice principles of project management a Global Record Project Steering Committee / Stakeholder Advisory Group(SC/SAG) is being contemplated for the next phase. To date, various experts have made their expertise available to the project on an informal basis and that input has been both valued and appreciated.

The governance structure will be reviewed based on the outcomes of the Technical Consultation and the 29th session of COFI in 2011. Those outcomes will dictate the future direction of the project which in turn will necessitate a revised govennance structure.
