Supportive Policy Environment for Live Fish & Shellfish Transport

Policy that encourages the control and reduction of food loss and waste (FLW) associated with live fish transport will encourage the creation of an enabling environment that facilitates access to recommended technology such as transport, holding equipment and packaging materials as well as infrastructure and services including training and research and development. The enabling environment will also include recognized standards and regulations regarding good fish welfare that promote reduced mortality and bio security. Efficient transport and border procedures that minimize transport times will also be conducive to reduced mortality of fish during transport.
