Food Coalition

Proposed by the Government of Italy and led by FAO, the Food Coalition is a voluntary alliance open to all stakeholders who are interested in supporting global, coordinated action to safeguard food security and nutrition and promote sustainable agri-food systems transformation in the wake of COVID-19.

The Food Coalition is not an autonomous legal entity, but a global alliance with voluntary participation. FAO leads the alliance, undertaking the day-to-day management of activities, including the coordination of the Food Coalition’s members and their contributions to the goals of the alliance, and provides updated information on country needs, including funding gaps and required expertise. Most importantly, FAO facilitates exchanges of knowledge and expertise between countries which seek support of the Food Coalition, and acts as a neutral convener for open and transparent dialogues.
