Community of Practice on food loss reduction Forum

Welcome to the CoP on Food Loss Reduction discussion FORUM. To participate in the on-line discussions you have to register and then login.

A new online discussion aimed at comparing the different business models used by a variety of projects and programmes worldwide is launched. The discussion will be useful to share information on approaches used for introducing and promoting relevant technologies such as metal silos, plastic silos and hermetic bags, and others; to discuss what works and what does not work in different contexts, the pros and cons of different models, with the aim to better understand the processes (including in countries where projects are only at a phase of piloting these technologies, therefore at a rather demonstration phase vs. large scale projects).

The discussion will consist in making available for the CoP members several presentations illustrating different experiences and approaches in a variety of contexts for their reaction. The objective of the intervention or the mandate and principles of the implementing organisation (e.g. development vs. emergency), the resources available and the timeframe of implementation also define the approach(es) adopted.  The challenges to ensure sustainability and different recommendations including on policy and enabling environment will also be discussed.

Other on-going discussions of this Forum relate to:

- PHL reduction policy development, co-moderated with FANRPAN

- Grain Storage technologies, co-moderated with UK's Natural Resources Institute

- Mapping the activities on Post-Harvest management (PHM)
