Quality&Origin

Means

On the one hand, information and knowledge concerning the experience of the various countries must be optimized, so as to support FAO policy and strategy in the sphere of origin-linked quality and recommend mechanisms to address member countries’ needs. To this end, various operational objectives are considered:

  • collection of information on the experience of member countries:
  • development of support tools (handbook "Linking People, Place and Products", guidelines etc.);
  • awareness raising and provision of information to stakeholders.

On the other hand, the development of origin-linked quality must be supported in the context of a sustainable development approach, taking account of stakeholders’ objectives and local and institutional-level socio-economic contexts in the various countries. Different technical cooperation projects are being implemented.
