Quality&Origin

Means

On the one hand, information and knowledge concerning the experience of the various countries must be optimized, so as to support FAO policy and strategy in the sphere of origin-linked quality and recommend mechanisms to address member countries’ needs. To this end, various operational objectives are considered:

  • Development of methodological support tools for capacity building : the handbook “Linking people, places and products”, a methodology for interactive inventories, training material
  • Knowledge sharing and awareness raising: case studies, with concrete examples and analyses of advantages, constraints and success or failure factors ; expert meetings, stakeholders’ networks management
  • Information and experience exchanges : regional seminars, national workshops

On the other hand, the development of origin-linked quality must be supported in the context of a sustainable development approach. Different technical cooperation projects take into account the stakeholders’ objectives and local and institutional-level socio-economic contexts in the various countries.
