Now available: Side Event Report

2 June 2015

Background

The FAO GM Foods Platform (http://fao.org/gm-platform/) is an online platform to share information on safety assessment of foods derived from recombinant-DNA plants authorized in accordance with the Codex “Guideline for the conduct of food safety assessment of foods derived from recombinant-DNA plants” (CAC/GL 45-2003, annex III adopted in 2008). Each country is responsible for keeping the shared data up-to-date on the Platform. FAO is responsible for management of the Platform.

This side event provided the CCNE countries with learning the current status of the Platform and discussing the difficulties/issues in active participation in the Platform. The purpose of the side event was to create a common understanding of the importance and usefulness of the Platform among all the Codex delegates and stimulate their active participation in the Platform.
